It's been awhile!

It's been over a week now since we've posted. Turns out that life is busy with three kids. Not that I was taken by surprise by that or anything...I'm just saying.

Lots has happened since we blogged last. Last weekend Jake got to meet all of his Allen cousins and Aunts and Uncles. What a blast we had together! We all went to Six Flags for the day last Saturday. Scott, Dede, Logan, Carsyn and McCrae came over for dinner afterwards. Then on Sunday Mark, Teresia, Landry and Reid came over for the day. We had such a good time. On Tuesday we went to Granbury and met Momma D for lunch. The big kids went on to Sunfish with them and had the time of their lives. Papa made them each a swing and hung it from the big Oak tree. They played in the sand pile, went on boat rides, saw some goats and went fishing. You can see the pictures below. Only at Sunfish can you go fishing in your jammies. Good times. Jake and I joined them at on Friday and enjoyed time on the porch and the cooler Fall weather. There's no place like Sunfish!

Our weekend ended with a bang at FaithLyn Bragdon's Princess Tea Party Birthday bash. You'll see a picture of the rockin' Tea Pot cake that Kelli MADE for the big event. Can you believe that? We had such a great time. Thanks for the great party Bragdon Family!

And finally, you can see pictures of just how much Jake has changed. When we left the hospital he weighed 7 lbs. 5 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches long. At his two week check up last Monday he weighed 9 lbs. 6.4 oz. and was 21 3/4 inches long. Can you even believe it? He's gigantic. And SUPER cute. Can't get enough of those cheeks. He's such a joy. He loves his Daddy, his dinner and his bed. He's getting so alert and so strong. Loves looking around and taking it all in. He turned three weeks yesterday and I can't believe it. He'll be three years before we know it.

My, how quickly they change.

So, Jake is already a week and half old. He's growing and changing like crazy. Already the time is going too fast. Yeah, we probably hold him too much according to some. We probably sit and stare into his little face way too much. But he's already a week and a half! He has already changed so much and is so much more alert. So we're savoring it. We'll continue to hold him "too much". We'll continue to stare at his sweet, ever changing little face and kissing his chubby little cheeks. Because it won't be long before this sweet stage is over.

Another round of Jake

Things are going well. Jake is getting the hang of life on Earth. We are all adjusting well. As a matter of fact, we had our first outing today. Jason's Deli for lunch. Then to the mall and then on to Costco. We had a great time and Jake was amazing. It was so good to be out and about.

Our other big first was his first real bath. He hated it. But I've never heard of a baby that loved their first bath. We got him all lotion-ed up and got his warm jammies on. Then we discoverd something. He LOVES having his hair brushed. Super cute! We decided that was the perfect job for Anna Kate. She loved having a job. Jake loved her doing it. We loved watching.

HE'S HERE FINALLY!!!

When Erin wakes up from her nap we'll finally post a picture of the handsome Jacob Lane Gerlt. But for now I thought I would let everyone know that Jake is finally home with us. HOORAY!!!! Here's all the stats.

• 7 lbs. 12 oz.
• 20 1/2 inches long
• born at 7:00 AM (on the dot) on September 3rd.
• Handsome as a devil.

Could today be the day?

I doubt it...but here's hoping! There is definately something going on in my body. Last night about 2:00am I began waking up with ugly contractions. Yay! Something is happening! They woke me up periodically for several hours. I finally decided to get out my stop watch. Sure enough. Ten minutes apart...lasting about a minute or longer...for over an hour. But that's not good enough. I rolled over and tried to get some more sleep.

This morning I took a nice walk, trying to see what they would do. Today they have slowed but are still pretty intense. So Chad went on to work...we'll see what the evening brings. Maybe we'll meet Jake today.

We've had several requests for pictures of my belly. Mostly from our far away Kentucky friends. How we wish they were here with us in Texas! To the Butts' and the Peek's and the Crisler's...know that you are missed! We love you. Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure:
